Investigation Into Chichester Attack

Detectives have released a CCTV image of a group of men they believe were involved in an argument before a man was knocked unconscious.

The man suffered serious face and head injuries in the assault which happened near the New Look shop in East Street, Chichester, at 1am on Sunday 29 August.

The 28-year-old victim only came forward last month to report the attack. He was initially taken to St Richard's Hospital in Chichester before being transferred to Southampton General Hospital with a broken nose, broken cheekbone and swelling to the brain. He is still recovering back in St Richard's Hospital.

It is believed the victim was with a group of people during the Saturday evening into the small hours of Sunday morning when an altercation occurred in the street resulting in him being punched to the floor.

A Sussex police spokesman said: "We are keen to trace the two men in the image dressed in lighter coloured clothing. We ask they come forward or anyone who knows who they are to contact us.
This was a serious assault and we want to know the identify of the men so they can either be implicated or eliminated in this investigation."
