It happened on the B3081 near Verwood - he had to be cut free by firefighters.
Isle Of Wight Train Has Window Smashed
British Transport Police are looking into a possible air rifle attack on a train on the Isle of Wight last night.
It happened at around 5pm when a train travelling through Sandown was hit by something that smashed the window.
A woman on board suffer cuts to her head and foot.
Inspector Mick Morriss, Officer in Charge of BTP’s South West Quadrant area said: “I can confirm that officers attended the line near to Sandown rail station on the Isle of Wight following reports of a train window being shattered.
“The incident happened as the 16:38 Shankling to Ryde Pier Head Island Line Service travelled under Foxes road footbridge.
“Officers are currently working to establish what struck the train window, causing it to shatter.
“The incident, which was reported at 5.11pm was also attended by officers from Hampshire Constabulary.
“Paramedics from the Isle of White Ambulance Service attended and treated a 29-year-old woman from the local area for minor cuts to her head and her foot.
“Officers are currently making local enquiries into the incident, including talking to witnesses, and the train has been taken out of service for forensic examination.”
