Killed After Night Out With Friends

A 22-year-old's died after being knocked over by a car following a night out with his friends.

He suffered serious head injuries on Park Road in Portsmouth, after being struck by a car just after 2am yesterday (Sunday Nov 21st).

He was taken to the Queen Alexandra Hospital by ambulance where he was later pronounced dead.

The driver of a Mini, a 24-year-old Fareham woman, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

Police later arrested the driver of a Ford Focus, a 23-year-old Fareham man, on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and failing to stop and report an accident. Both remain in custody at this time.

Sergeant Alyson West from the Road Death Investigation team said:

“I’m appealing for witnesses to this incident.

“The young man who died had been enjoying a night out with a group of friends and was walking back along Park Road when he was hit close to the junction with Burnaby Road.

“I would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident or saw either vehicle driving prior to it.”
