Man Arrested Over Totton Flat Fire

Police in Totton have arrested a man on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life after a fire at a flat in the town.

Officers were called to the blaze at around 7.45am on Monday, January 9.
 
Three flats at the block in Mansergh Walk had to be evacuated.
 
It’s believed the blaze started inside the top floor flat and that some sort of accelerant was used.
 
Officers are working closely with Hampshire Fire and rescue to investigate the incident.
 
A 44-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the fire. He is currently undergoing medical treatment in hospital for burns. 
 
Officers from the Safer Neighbourhoods Team have been in the area speaking with Neighbours and offering reassurance. Detectives working on the case say they are not looking for anyone else in connection with the fire.
 
No one else was hurt in the incident.
