Man Attacked In Front Of His Children

Detectives are investigating an attack on a man in front of his family in Portsmouth.

A 34-year-old man and some of his relatives were on the beach at Hot Walls, Grand Parade at around 6.15pm on Sunday, July 31, 2011 when it’s reported a group of men and women became involved in anti-social behaviour.

It’s then claimed the group were abusive towards the family, which included three children all aged six and under. One of the group is accused of assaulting the 34-year-old man.

The victim fell to the floor and was left with serious injuries. 

Investigating officer Detective Constable Verity Lamb said: 

“This assault took place when the beach would have been busy on a Sunday evening.

"We’re grateful to those witnesses who have come forward with information already.

"This appeal is for anyone else who may have been on the beach at this time who witnessed the assault and has not contacted the police yet.”
