Man Found Bleeding In Gosport

22 September 2014, 06:08

A police investigation is underway after a man was left with serious injuries from a suspected assault in Gosport.

Hampshire Constabulary was contacted at approximately 6.20am on Sunday (21 September) when the victim was found bleeding in Grange Road near the entrance to a Tesco car park nearby.

The man, aged in his 20s from the Gosport area, has been taken to hospital to receive medical attention for injuries to his face, arms and body. These injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

Police have sealed off parts of Grange Road to preserve potential evidence and establish more details about the exact location and motive.

One line of enquiry is that the victim was attacked by a group of people during the early hours of this morning (Sunday).

Detective Inspector Ross Toms said:

"We're appealing for witnesses who may have noticed an injured man, a disturbance, or any suspicious behaviour in the Rowner area of Gosport overnight and early this morning (Sunday).

"I would also ask local residents to check their gardens and bins for any discarded property that does not belong to them. This is a routine line of enquiry to explore the possibility that evidence may have been thrown away by suspects after the assault."

Witnesses or anyone with information are asked to contact CID at Fareham Police Station by phoning 101 and quoting Operation Sphinx. Mini-com users can phone 18001 101. Information can be given anonymously by phoning the independent Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111.
