Southampton Stabbing Update - Man Bailed

A man arrested on suspicion of murder, after another man was stabbed in Southampton, has been released on bail.

The 25 year old is due to is due to return to answer bail on Thursday October 27. 

Officers were called to Portswood Road at around 4pm on Monday, August 22 to reports that a 28-year-old man had been stabbed outside the KFC restaurant.

A knife was recovered nearby. However it’s now believed the man was actually stabbed in Vanguard Road, Midanbury and drove to Portswood Road afterwards.

The victim had to undergo emergency surgery at Southampton General Hospital for his injuries and is currently recovering.

They are also looking into reports that there may have been an earlier stabbing in Vanguard Road which may be linked to this incident.

Officers say they don’t believe the attack was random and think the victim was targeted.

They are still appealing for witnesses, both to the known stabbing and the other possible incident. Anyone with information is asked to call the Operation Belmarsh Team at Bitterne police station on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously
