Two Men Bailed Over Cyclist Attack in Southampton

Two men who police named last week as wanted over an attack that left a cyclist in a coma have now been released on bail while enquiries continue after being arrested by officers yesterday.

Paul Johnson, 21, and Timothy Horstead, aged 20, were arrested yesterday on suspicion of attempted murder. They will have to return to police on bail on July 28.

They had been sought in connection with an attack on 24-year-old David Baker, who was in a critical condition, in a coma for much of the past two weeks after being attacked as he rode across Central Bridge in Southampton at about 11.35pm on Tuesday, June 8. He is still in a serious condition in hospital but has come out of his coma.

Another man, John Smith, 26, from Tamella Road, Botley has already been charged with ‘wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm’ over the assault and an 18-year-old woman released on bail while enquiries continue.
