Man's Cheekbone Broken In Attack

Detectives in Fareham are appealing for witnesses after a man was attacked in Stubbington on Thursday, December 23.

The 21-year-old victim had been drinking in the Cuckoo Pint pub and was walking home through The Gannets at around 11.15pm when he passed a man of similar age who stopped and punched him in the face.

The punch knocked the victim to the ground and there was a scuffle during which the victim was punched and kicked again. The attacker made off on foot.

The victim suffered cuts, bruising and a fractured cheekbone in the assault and was treated for his injuries at the Queen Alexandra Hospital in Cosham.

The attacker is described as:

White
Around 5ft 10ins tall
Around 20 years old
Medium build
Mousey blonde hair, cut short but with a longer bit at the back in a mullet style
Wearing black jacket and blue jeans

Detective Constable Sarah Ridler said: “This was a completely unprovoked assault, and while incidents like this are rare in this area, this attack has caused considerable injury and distress to the victim.

“I would appeal to anyone who saw anything on the night of the assault, or who recognises the attacker from his description, to contact us.”
