Man's Jaw Broken In Pub Fight

Police are appealing for witnesses to a public order incident outside a city centre Portsmouth bar in which a man had his jaw broken.

The disturbance broke out at around 10pm, Saturday, September 18, inside the Trafalgar Pub on Edinburgh Road and continued outside.

A 20-year-old Southampton man suffered a serious injury and was taken by ambulance to the Queen Alexandra Hospital Cosham. He was treated for a broken jaw and has since been discharged.

Another 20-year-old Southampton man suffered minor injuries to his face.

Police officers were on scene within a matter of minutes and arrested four men from Waterlooville in connection with the incident. Three are aged 19 and one is aged 20. All were bailed until November 12 pending further enquiries.

DC Daisy Sharma from Portsmouth CID said:

“This incident has result in a young man being left with a broken jaw.

“Edinburgh Road is a popular destination for revellers enjoying Portsmouth’s nightlife and there were many people there last Saturday who may have seen what happened that evening.

“We’re releasing a CCTV still of one of the suspects. I’d like to hear from anyone who recognises him, who witnessed the incident or who saw the events leading up to it.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact DC Sharma at Portsmouth CID on 101 or 0845 045 45 45 from outside Hampshire and the Isle of Wight. You can also call the anonymous Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111.
