Man's Laptop Stolen During Train Snooze

British Transport Police officers are trying to track down a thief who stole a sleeping passenger's belongings on a train between Waterloo and Basingstoke.

It happened early on Thursday, 1st December 2011.

The victim, a 31-year-old man from Winchester, was making his way home on board a service from Waterloo.

Just before the train reached Basingstoke, around 2.30am, a man approached the sleeping victim and stole his brown leather bag, containing a laptop, iPod Nano and some trainers.

The thief also made off with the man's rail tickets before leaving the train when it stopped at the station.

PC Mark Stook, investigating the theft, said:

"We are currently making local enquiries to try and get a name for the man responsible but to no avail so far.

"We'd like to identify and speak to the man pictured in the CCTV images in connection with this incident. If you recognise him and think you can tell us who he is, we want to hear from you."
