Men Force Their Way Into Southampton Woman's House

Police are looking for three men who forced their way into a woman's house in Southampton and confronted a man with a crowbar.

Officers are linking the two attempted burglaries.

The first was about 2.30pm Tuesday 12 November, when a 28-year-old man heard loud banging at the front door of his home in Richmond Gardens, Portswood.

Opening the door, he was confronted by three men, one of whom had a crowbar. This man said “Wrong house” before turning and walking off with the other two.

The man with the crowbar is white, stocky, and 45-50 years of age. He had bushy eyebrows and wore dark clothing.

At about 3.30pm the same day, a 28-year-old woman was alarmed when three men forced their way into her home at River Walk, Bitterne. All three men were white, spoke with foreign accents and wore green and cream khaki clothing. All wore caps.

The woman challenged the intruders, who left, walking up Forest Hills Drive.

Nothing was taken and no one was injured in either incident.

Detectives at Bitterne are appealing for information from people who were in either area at the times of the incidents.

They particularly want to hear from anyone who saw a group of three men walking in Richmond Gardens or River Walk or anyone who saw a group of three men getting into a vehicle in either area just before or after the two incidents.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Sergeant Sharon Austin at Bitterne CID on 101 or call the Crimestoppers charity anonymously on the number shown below. Minicom TextRelay users can call 18001 101.
