A missing nurse, who might have malaria, has been found in the Netherlands.

Matthew Lloyd, who's from Southampton, contacted the Dutch police last night - they don’t know if he has the life-threatening disease yet, but he's been taken to hospital there to be checked out.

The 35 year old went missing at the beginning of the month after taking part in some drugs trials in Oxford.

His family made an appeal on Heart last week to find him - they were worried that if he did have Malaria, he could die without treatment.

A police spokeswoman said: “Hampshire Constabulary can confirm that missing Southampton nurse Matthew Lloyd has been found in the Netherlands after making contact with Dutch police yesterday evening (Monday, October 18).

“He has been admitted to hospital for a medical assessment and any relevant treatment he may require.

“We are currently awaiting updates from the Dutch medical profession and at this time we do not yet know whether he has contracted malaria.”

He was spotted on CCTV in Kings Cross, London, and police suspected he had travelled abroad after they discovered he had his passport and £900 in cash in his possession.
