New Forest Crash Paramedic Speaks Out Three Years On
A former paramedic speaks exclusively to Heart about an ambulance crash in the New Forest in 2013 which left him with a serious brain injury.
Richard Riley was in the back of an ambulance travelling under blue light conditions on the A337 to Southampton General Hospital on 26th April 2013. The crew had just picked up an 88-year-old patient and his son.
The vehicle collided with a car and then went into a large tree on a grass verge on the edge of the A337. The paramedic driving the vehicle Gillian Randall died in the crash, along with the patient. Richard along with the patients relative received multiple injuries.
Richard tells Heart that day has changed his life forever:
His wife Natalie told Heart that his injuries have had an impact on their lives:

The 500 pound World War Two device was picked up during dredging work.
640 men were killed when the South African troop carrier was hit by a cargo ship in 1917.
