Pair Arrested After Tax Fraud Investigation

A Hampshire businessman and woman have been arrested and bailed on suspicion of an £800,000 tax fraud.

HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) criminal investigators arrested the 60 year old man and the 57 year old woman in Locks Heath, Hampshire, on Saturday (3rd November). 

HM Revenue & Customs spokesman Bob Gaiger said: "HMRC take tax fraud seriously and will not hesitate to investigate those suspected of stealing public funds. Anyone with information about individuals who may be involved in National Insurance or tax fraud can contact the Tax Evasion Hotline on 0800 788 887." 

A residential property and three business premises have been searched and investigations are ongoing. 

They have been bailed until 5 February 2013.
