Police Cordon After Portsmouth Assault

Police in Portsmouth have cordoned off an area of Guildhall Walk following an assault on a man in the early hours of this morning, Wednesday, May 26.

Police were called at around 2.40am after reports of an altercation that left the man, thought to be aged in his 30's, being taken to Southampton General Hospital for treatment to head injuries.

Investigating officers are appealing for anyone who was in the area around the White Swan pub and the taxi rank between 1.30am and 2.45am who may have witnessed anything to contact them.

A local man has been arrested in connection with this incident and is currently in custody helping police with their enquiries.
