Search For Man Who Approached Young Girl

Police have release an e-fit of a man they would like to speak to in connection with an incident that happened on the seafront, Hayling Island on Tuesday, August 31st.

At about 3pm a 14-year-old girl was walking along the road – near the fun fair - when she was approached by a man driving a van.

The man pulled up to her, offered her a lift in his vehicle and made several indecent remarks to her.

The girl managed to get away from the suspect and ran along the road in the direction of the fun fair.

The man is described as:

*White
*In his thirties
*Slim build
*Short brown shaved hair
*Light stubble
*Full sleeve tattoo on his left arm (possibly a dragon) and a tribal black and blue tattoo on his right leg.
*Wearing dark blue shorts, a beige t-shirt, white trainers.
*The van he was driving was dark blue and three seats wide.

Detective Constable Emma Cooke said:

“Due to the suspect’s actions this is a disturbing incident that has left the young girl understandably shocked and upset.

“We take this kind of matter extremely seriously and are very keen to trace this man. Witness accounts may help us ascertain who he is and the exact circumstances of the incident.

“We would ask members of the public to take a close look at the e-fit, and if they recognise the suspect, they should get in touch with police as soon as possible. If anyone saw a van of this type in the area at the time, they should also
contact us.”
