Police investigating an unprovoked assault in a pub in Southsea are releasing a CCTV image of one of the suspects.

At around 11.20pm on Friday, August the 6th, two women from Portsmouth were assaulted on the dance floor of the Lord Palmerston pub, Palmerston Road.

The victims, aged 40 and 30, were attacked by two unknown women.

The 40-year-old woman was taken to hospital with a badly bruised left eye, bruising to her face and cuts to her face and left arm. The 30-year-old woman was punched in the nose.

Both the suspects are described as

* White women
* Aged late 20s, early 30s
* Slim build

The first was about 5ft 4ins tall, with long black hair, wearing a black dress and long earrings.

The second was between 5ft 1ins and 5ft 3ins tall, with short black hair (spiky on top) wearing a black dress.

PC Darren Willis from the Southsea Central Safer Neighbourhoods team said:

“This is a serious unprovoked attack on two women who were out enjoying themselves.

“We would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the assault or who can identify the woman in the CCTV still.

“I believe one of the suspects had been out celebrating a birthday that evening which may help to identify them.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact PC Darren Willis at Southsea police station on 101 or 0845 045 45 45 from outside Hampshire and the Isle of Wight. You can also call the anonymous Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111.
