Police Looking For Havant Bank Robbery Witness

Police investigating the theft of cash being collected from the Nationwide bank in Park Parade, Leigh Park, Havant on Friday, November 25 have issued CCTV images of a witness they would like to identify.

Two men with balaclavas broke into the bank just before 10.30pm assaulted the two G4S couriers who were emptying the cash machine, and took cassettes containing a substantial sum of money.
They left the scene in a small dark coloured car, possibly a VW Golf, which had been waiting nearby.
The vehicle is believed to have driven off along Sombourne Drive, turned into Stockheath Road and then turned left into Petersfield Road.
A man in a red top is seen on CCTV outside the bank immediately after the incident taking photographs on his mobile phone.
This man left the area before police arrived on scene in a dark coloured 4x4 which was parked by a crossing near the Lidl’s store on Sombourne Drive.
Detective Sergeant Ross Toms said: “This person is not believed to be involved in the incident but appears to be an important witness. So far we have been unable to identify him. If you are this person in the CCTV images or you know whothis person could be please get in touch.”

At this time investigating officers are keeping an open mind as to whether this incident is linked to a robbery at another Nationwide branch in Fareham on December 13.
