Police Name Ambulance Crash Patient

An elderly patient killed when the ambulance he was in hit a tree in the New Forest has been named by police.

88-year-old Francis Ironside from Lymington died after the emergency vehicle crashed on the A337 Brockenhurst to Lymington on Friday 26 April.

He was being taken to hospital at the time - the ambulance driver Gill Randall also died, while a paramedic and relative of Mr Ironside were seriously injured.

A 25-year-old man, arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving, remains on bail until July.
