Police Name Man Found Dead On Beach
Police have confirmed a body found on a beach at Freshwater Bay, on the Isle of Wight, on Monday (April 4th) was that of a man who’d gone missing.
Ian David Lanfear, aged 45, was from Freshwater. His death is not being treated as suspicious. Next-of-kin and HM Coroner have been informed.
Police are continuing to appeal for information about the last known movements of Mr Lanfear. He was reported missing after leaving his home address in Freshwater at approximately 10am on Sunday, April 3, 2011.
Anyone who saw Mr Lanfear on Sunday is asked to phone Newport Police Station on 101 or 0845 045 45 45. Mini-com users can call 01962 875000.
He was described as:
- 5 ft 8 ins tall
- Slim build
- Short dark hair, which is receding
He was last seen wearing:
- Dark brown waterproof jacket
- Navy blue jeans
- Dark shoes
- A scarf
Officers say many of those were after people didn't secure their car properly.
James Hemming pleaded guilty to wounding with intent after a 17-year-old girl was badly injured in Fratton.
Dorset and Hampshire officers will be carrying out extra patrols until New Year's Day.
