Policeman Gets Ready For Pedal Car Grand Prix

PC Keith Waller from the Ringwood Safer Neighbourhoods team is entering a team in the British Pedal Car Grand Prix in Ringwood this July.

The pedal car has been designed as a Hampshire Constabulary police car with full livery, lights and a siren. This is a community project and PC Waller organised for the rolling chassis to be built locally before technology students from Ringwood Comprehensive School designed and built the body work. Hampshire Police have provided the blue lights and the siren and also the batten burg design colour scheme.

Funding for the project is kindly being provided by the Ringwood Town Council, Ringwood Pub Watch scheme and Henderson Bearings.

PC Waller said: “I like to arrange a community project for the young people in Ringwood to get involved with each year. The pedal car grand prix is a fantastic local event which brings the community together. Getting the youngsters involved with it in this way has given them something positive to work on, through which they can learn new skills and work together as a team. It is something they can all be very proud of. We are also aiming to raise money for the Ringwood School Jubilee Fund. I would like to thank everybody involved with the project.”

The race will take place on Sunday, July 11 2010 at 2pm around Ringwood Town Centre.
