Recruitment Event For New Whiteley Village

The new Whiteley Shopping Centre near Fareham has held a big recruitment day with more than a thousand jobs on offer.

More than 50 new shops, restaurants and cafés will be opening at the £84 million development on 23rd May.

The old development has been demolished and completely rebuilt with big high street names.

A recruitment open day was held on Wednesday 27th March at the Solent Hotel in Whiteley, giving people a chance to meet retailers such as Topshop, Next and Starbucks. Hundreds of people queued throughout the day.

Neil Carter, Centre Manager of Whiteley Shopping Centre said:

"There are just under two months to go until we open the doors at Whiteley Shopping Centre on May 23rd, and with more than 50 retailers, cafés and restaurants joining the line-up, there are significant employment opportunities for the local area.

"The recruitment day will be a chance for local people to find out more about the type of vacancies on offer, and an opportunity to speak to retailers directly."

One of only two retail developments to launch in the UK this year, Whiteley Shopping Centre will feature many stores, restaurants and cafes, including Bank, Boots, Claire's, Clarks, H&M, JD, Mamas & Papas, Moss, M&S, Next, Paperchase, River Island, Schuh, SportsDirect.com, The Entertainer, Topshop and Topman.

Shoppers will also be able to visit Prezzo, Frankie & Benny's, Starbucks and Costa Coffee, amongst others.

Seven independent retailers from the local area will join the line-up, and a monthly market will feature local retailers and producers from around the area.

The shopping centre - situated by the Tesco and close to Junction 9 of the M27 - will also provide over 1,500 car park spaces with up to three hours free parking and free parking after 6pm.
