Police are appealing for witnesses after a family in Calmore, Southampton, awoke to find someone had entered their home and slashed ten pairs of their shoes.

The incident occurred at a property in Oatfield Gardens between 7pm on Sunday, January 23 and 8am on Monday, January 24.

The ten pairs of shoes were on a rack inside the porch. Police believe they were slashed with some kind of bladed instrument before being thrown all over the floor.

A trailer, which was in the garden of the property, also had its cover cut.

PC Vicki Tomkins, of Totton police station, said: “This is a highly unusual crime in which a property has been entered and items have been maliciously damaged.

“Police are urging anyone who saw anything suspicious in the area or who may have any information about who could be responsible to come forward.”

Anyone with any information is asked to contact PC Vicki Tomkins at Totton police station on 101 or the Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111, where information can be left anonymously.
