Southampton detectives are investigating a terrifying burglary at the home of a mum with a 7-year-old son.

Three masked men armed with a knife and spade broke into the 25-year-old's house on Thackery Road in Portswood at 9pm on Sunday 13 April and demanded money.

One of the men was wearing a gas mask and another had a hood covering most of his face. On their way out of the address one of the suspects hit the 25-year-old woman with the shovel on her arm. She was not seriously injured and nothing was taken.

The man police would like to speak to is described as:

- White
- Aged in his late teens
- Slim build
- Ginger hair and wearing a grey/khaki beanie hat with a blue Nike tick
- He was wearing a bright blue puffa style gillet, a long sleeved black t-shirt, dark jeans/trousers, and Nike trainers with a blue tick and white soles, which were grey at the front

A 23-year-old man has been arrested in connection with this offence and has been bailed until 2 June pending further enquiries.
