Starving Dog Abandoned In Southampton

The RSPCA is appealing for information after an emaciated dog was abandoned in Southampton.

The RSPCA was alerted after a member of the public discovered the adult red and white coloured Boxer type bitch tied to railings on Millbook Road West, on the evening of 29 September.

The underweight dog, who was tied up with rope, had recently had a littler of puppies as her teats were still full of milk. RSPCA inspector Charlotte Eyden, who is investigating, said;

"This friendly dog was very underweight when she was found and it would have taken some time for her to get into such a bad state.

"I would urge anyone with information about this dog to contact the RSPCA so we can find out who she came to be dumped in such poor condition and hopefully ensure that her puppies are safe and being properly cared for."

The RSPCA has made local enquiries without success and is now hoping a wider appeal may provide information about where this dog came from and how she came to be in such poor condition.

The dog, who has been names Annabel by RSPCA staff is currently in the care of The RSPCA Stubbington Ark Animal Centre, in Fareham.

Anyone with information about this dog is urged to contact the RSPCA cruelty and information line on 0300 1234 999 and leave a message for Inspector Eyden. Calls are in confidence.
