Student Robbed In Portsmouth

A student's had his mobile phone and wallet stolen in a robbery in Portsmouth.

He was pushed to the ground by an unknown man while walking through an alleway on Friday night.

It happened on Cottage View near Arundel Street at around 11:50.

The suspect is described as a white man wearing a dark hood covering his face.

Detective Constable Chris Dinenage from Fratton CID said:

''Anyone who witnessed this incident, or who has any information about it, should contact police.
 
''The victim was a student walking home from a night out alone.

''If you are a student enjoying a night out in the city we would urge you to follow some safety advice to prevent becoming a victim of this type of crime.''
 
Police are continuing to investigate and are appealing for witnesses.
