Thieves Target Sports Club

Police are seeking information and have released a CCTV image following two burglaries at Searle's Sports and Social Club in Davis Way on Saturday, December 5 and Monday, December 27.

In the first incident, between 1.45am and 11.30am, a window at the rear of the premises was removed completely, entry gained and approximately £4000 in cash was taken from the safe and games machines, which were broken in to.

In the second incident, between 1am and 4.15am, the front door was forced, entry gained and the safe was once again targeted, albeit unsuccessfully. The offender instead stole twenty bottles of spirits, a flatscreen 42 inch JVC television, and more cash from the games machines.

Police believe both offences have been carried out by the same offender, and he is described as:

*White

*Aged between 25 and 40.

PC Aby Smith said: "Over the past month the sports and social club has been targeted twice and a large amount of cash, alcohol and a TV has been taken. Considerable damage has also been caused on both occassions.

“I am appealing for anyone who knows who is responsible for these two burglaries to contact us.

"The offender has on each occasion worn a distinctive jacket, and if anyone recognises who this belongs to then they should get in touch. In addition, if you have been offered cheap bottles of spirits or a 42 inch flatscreen TV, then please let us know.

"We would ask members of the public to look at this CCTV image and if they recognise the offender, they should come forward as soon as possible."

Anyone with information should contact Fareham police station on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
