Totton: Man Seriously Hurt After Live Train Rail Fall

It's understood a man may lose a leg - after falling onto an electrified railway line in Hampshire.

Three men suffered burns after falling onto a live rail near Junction Road in Totton in the early hours of Sunday (16 August) The two other men are now out of hospital - he remains in a stable condition with 'potentially life-changing' injuries.

British Transport Police are investigating exactly what happened.

A spokesman for British Transport Police (BTP) said:

“We were called at 1.30am on Sunday, 16 August, to reports of an incident on the line close to Junction Road in Totton.

“Colleagues from Hampshire Constabulary and South Central Ambulance Service also attended.

“Three men from the Totton area were taken to hospital with injuries consistent with having received electric shocks.

“Two of the men were subsequently discharged. The third man, aged 29, remains in hospital in a stable condition with serious injuries.

“The incident is not being treated as suspicious, and enquiries to establish a full picture of events are ongoing.”
 
Inspector Becky Warren of British Transport Police (BTP) said:

“Trespassing is incredibly dangerous.

“The railway can be a hazardous environment, and trespassers risk their lives and the safety of passengers and rail staff.

“I would urge the public to stay clear of the tracks and obey signage when using the rail network.”
