Vandals Damage Over 50 Cars In Hampshire

Police in Hampshire are investigating a several incidents of criminal damage to vehicles and other property which occurred overnight between Tuesday, June 21 and Thursday, June 23.

At least 48 vehicles parked in Hythe had damaged caused to the wing mirrors. More than 30 incidents have also been reported in Totton.

It is believed the offenders may have been travelling in a vehicle and caused the damage as they drove past. The nature of some of the damage suggests they may have collided with vehicles.

Officers at Hythe police station are now contacting with owners of the damaged vehicles.

Damage was also caused to guttering in Hythe Precinct. People living nearby reported two youths acting suspiciously in the area in the early hours of Wednesday, June 22.

New Forest East Safer Neighbourhoods Sergeant Simon Flint said: "Hythe is a nice area to live with a low crime level. Mindless acts of damage like this cause concern for our law abiding residents. New Forest East Safer Neighbourhoods team will do all we can to identify, arrest and prosecute those responsible"
