Lymington Will Keep Gold Post Box
Royal Mail has decided to keep the 'unofficial' gold post box in Lymington in honour of Olympic sailor Ben Ainslie.
A man was arrested and bailed after one was painted in the town in honour of gold medalist Ainslie who's lived in Lymington for 12 years.
Royal Mail had already painted one in Cornwall, where Ben grew up, and had threatened to paint the one in Lymington red again.
But it now looks like they've agreed to leave it gold.
Ben tells Heart it just goes to show how everyone got wrapped up in the Olympic spirit: "We'd all hoped that everyone would take to the Olympics and they certainly have. That's just an example of how excited everyone was, and that's great to see!"
"For a while I was quite popular in Lymington, but this guy is now a 'Legend of Lymington' for doing that."
Meanwhile, Hampshire Police have now confirmed they're taking no further action against a 54-year-old Lymington man who was arrested for unlawfully spray painting a Royal Mail post box gold.
New Forest District Acting Chief Inspector Alex Reading said: "We understand the decision by Royal Mail not to pursue this matter further and can equally appreciate the sentiment being expressed by the British public who want to congratulate and celebrate the achievements of our Olympic athletes.
"We would though advise members of the public to find lawful ways to acknowledge and celebrate our athlete's successes."
A cashier was sprayed in the face with an unknown substance, at Courtesy on Romsey Road.
It'll replace and reupholster seats, move the orchestra pit under the stage and repaint the auditorium.
It's thought to have been taken in Southampton the day before she set sail in April 1912.
