Witness Appeal After Shanklin Crash

Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward after a road traffic collision in Shanklin, Isle of Wight.

A red car was involved in a collision with two pedestrians, a 32-year-old man and his five-year-old son from the Milton Keynes area, in Regent Street at approximately 3.50pm on Monday, July 5th, 2010.

Police would like to speak with any witnesses, and also with the motorist at the wheel of the red car, who is reported to have stopped at the scene, but then driven away without giving their details to the pedestrians involved.

Investigating officer PC Adam Brown said: "Fortunately the injuries received were only slight but this collision could have been much worse. We're keen to trace the driver of the red vehicle to speak with them about what happened."

Anyone with information is asked to contact PC Brown at Newport Police Station by phoning 101 or 0845 045 45 45. Mini-Com users can call the police on 01962 875000. Information can be given anonymously by calling the Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111. From outside Hampshire and the Isle of Wight, call the police on 0845 045 45 45.
