Woman Arrested After Pensioner Hit By Car

An elderly woman is being treated for life-threatening injuries after a road traffic collision in Cosham.

Police were called to Wayte Street and the service road of the Tesco store in Cosham High Street shortly after 11am on Monday, December 3, 2012.

A Hyundai Matrix driven by a 77-year-old woman from Portsmouth was involved in a collision with a 72-year-old pedestrian from Cosham.

The pedestrian suffered life-threatening head injuries. She was taken to hospital.

The Hyundai driver was arrested on suspicion of driving without due care and attention. She was questioned and then released on police bail until January 31, 2013 pending further enquiries.
