Woman Assaulted in Gosport

Police in Gosport are seeking witnesses to an assault outside the North Gate to Harbour Towers near Trinity Street on Tuesday, May 4.

Between 9pm and 9.30pm a 56-year-old woman was walking through the car park between the bus station and Harbour Towers when an unknown man approached her, and grabbed her by the hair, punching her twice in the face.

The man then left the scene, leaving the woman with bruising to the head and a cut to the face. No hospital treatment was required.

The suspect is described as:

  • White
  • Approximately in his mid forties
  • Southern accent
  • Approximately 5ft 10ins tall
  • Slim build
  • Mousey brown, straight, mid-length hair
  • Wearing a cream jacket and dark coloured jeans

PC Penny Young said: “This is a very rare occurrence, where this woman has been targeted by this man in an unprovoked assault. We would like to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time and may have seen the incident take place or has any information about the suspect.”
