Woman Attacked In Christmas Burglary

Detectives are investigating a Christmas Day burglary in Southsea where an elderly woman disturbed the offender.

The 80-year-old woman received wrist and knee injuries in a struggle with the burglar as he was leaving her home address in Froddington Road at around 6pm on Tuesday, December 25, 2012.

She has received treatment in hospital.

The woman, her husband, son-in-law and his mother were returning home when they noticed someone inside their home.

Jewellery and around £100 in cash was reported stolen.

Police would like to thank the family for their co-operation and assistance with enquiries so far.

A 17-year-old boy from Portsmouth was arrested on Boxing Day on suspicion of assault and burglary. He was questioned and bailed until January 9, 2013 pending further enquiries.
