Woman Charged Over Southampton Attack

An 18-year-old woman from Southampton has been charged with grievous bodily harm following the attack on a cyclist in June that left him in coma for almost two weeks.

David Baker, 24 was left in a critical condition in hospital following the assault that happened as he rode across Central Bridge in Southampton at about 11.35pm on Tuesday, June 8.

Four people in all were originally arrested in connection with the offence.

Police have now charged 18-year-old Stephanie Hill from Westbrook Way in Southampton with GBH. She will appear at Southampton Magistrates Court on August 12 along with John Smith from Tamella Road, Botley who has already been charged with GBH in connection with the attack.

One of the other men arrested has now been released on bail until September 16 and the third man is on bail until August 4

The victim, Mr Baker, has since regained consciousness and is making a gradual recovery. It's not known yet if he will be left with any permanent brain damage from the attack.
