Woman Dies In M3 Crash Near Winchester

Police are investigating the death of a woman in a multi-vehicle crash on the M3 near Winchester.

The woman was a passenger in one of the vehicles, she was taken to the Royal Hampshire County Hospital but sadly died.

The collision happened at 6.47pm yesterday at junction 9 at Winchester. Officers say they know that three vehicles were involved, however, witnesses have suggested a fourth may have also been involved.

Police say they are also keen to speak to the drivers of HGV vehicles who stopped at the scene.

One of the HGV's has "CH" written on the back and another had a red cab and was carrying a silver container.   

Any witnesses are asked to contact police on 101 and quote Operation Hemisphere.
