Woman Jailed For Harrassing Missing Gosport Girl's Family
An internet troll who posed as a missing girl and then broke a court order by harassing the family has been jailed.
Donna Wright, 34, broke a restraining order to telephone Richard Lee, whose daughter Katrice has not been seen since she disappeared in a busy Naafi store near a British Army base in Germany in 1981.
Wright, from Oak Terrace, West Cornforth, County Durham, was today jailed after last year she was also convicted of harassing Katrice's mother Sharon in Gosport, Hampshire, and Katrice's sister Natasha.
Newton Aycliffe Magistrates' Court previously heard Wright turned nasty after a DNA test proved she was not the missing girl, and sent spiteful messages over Facebook.
But after eight court hearings and sacking her solicitor, Wright admitted harassing 64-year-old Mr Lee, from Hartlepool, after conclusive phone records were produced.
Speaking after the verdict, Mr Lee said she was a sick individual and had wasted public money.
``The only justice I have got out of it is I will sleep easy in the coming weeks as I won't have to worry that she will ring me,'' he said.
In court Mr Lee read out his victim impact statement in which he described the hurt and harassment his family has been through.
``If I had one question for Ms Wright it would be 'what has my family ever done to you?'.
``But I don't wish to ask that or any other question as I do not want this woman to have any such dialogue with me or my family or anyone else who is trying to find Katrice.''
He said the family was already serving a life sentence due to the fact their daughter was abducted and they have no answers.
He said Wright's campaign against them had deflected his family from their aim of finding his daughter.
Previously Viv Waugh, defending, told the court his client had been diagnosed with bi-polar disorder and may have a personality disorder and was undergoing psychiatric treatment.
Court officials confirmed she was today jailed for eight weeks but would serve a total of 14 weeks after she received a suspended sentence last year.
