WWII Bomb Alert In Southampton

Part of Southampton City Centre was cordoned off yesterday morning after an unexploded bomb was found.

Police say builders uncovered what they thought was an unexploded WWII bomb, reporting seeing 12 inches of metal sticking up from the ground.

Businesses and residents were evacuated from London Road at 10am and a bomb disposal team arrived at about 11.30am.

London Road reopened at 2am this morning.
