Clampdown On Cosmetic Cowboys

People in Devon who want peace of mind when they go for cosmetic treatments can now be sure they won't be treated by 'cowboy' doctors and nurses.

The Department of Health has set up a register where Devon patients can find qualified professionals who will offer them the high standards of treatment they would expect to receive when going for procedures like Botox.

A recent poll has revealed that more than three quarters of the people asked would be concerned about receiving Botox injections from doctors who are not properly qualified.

Horror stories of botched Botox and other cosmetic treatments given by unqualified practitioners and leaving patients with scarring or infections are common. Patient safety is a top priority and this Government campaign to stamp out Botox cowboys will reassure patients who may have heard bad reports.

Dr James Willis of James Willis Faces in Totnes is the first in the South Hams to be credited with the Independent Healthcare Advisory Services.

Being on the register means that his patients can go to him assured that they are in the safe hands of qualified professionals.
