Be A Millionaire For The Day

millionaire

You may remember that earlier this year we ran a competition to spend the day living like a Millionaire.

Claire and Sean Dundas were nominated by their friend Heather to win an amazing day. They have had the most terrible time. Here's what Heather told us.

"This couple are going through so much both have cancer. They gave £6500.00 raised for their use to the Ricky Grant and Turner wards at Torbay hospital. Claire Dundas was diagnosed with cancer 9 years ago and her husband Sean Dundas cared for her and the children. Then 9 months ago Sean was found to have an aggressive form of non-hodgkins lymphoma. His treatment has been very aggressive/hard. He is very popular and does a lot for children's football even coaching/managing whilst having chemo. Two events have been run by others in his name raising £6500.00. He decided to donate this money rather than use it for their benefit. He said that he would rather donate the money to make others suffering with cancer more comfortable for years rather than spend it all on a two week holiday just for his family. He is currently saving to take his wife away for a night to thank her and give her a rest. Both Claire and Sean are an inspiration they keep smiling and trying to look on the bright side."

So to give them a special treat they were chauffeured in a Bentley to Torbay Marina where they were treated to a champagne reception on Triple Seven 777 - a spectacular 80ft Luxury Italian MotorYacht before being served lunch prepared for them by celebrity chef Simon Hulstone from the Elephant Restaurant. After relaxing on the yacht they were taken in the Bentley to the Palace Hotel where they had dinner and stayed the night in a VIP suite. The next morning they were chauffeured home again in the Bentley.

Sadly, in July, Sean lost his battle with cancer. Clare has organised a sponsored walk for him to raise money for the Force Cancer Support Centre based in Exeter. It provides invaluable support to those affected by cancer and their families. They have really helped Claire and Sean during her nine years of having cancer and then Sean with his cancer battle this past year. They continue to support their children too. The centre is totally self funding running on donations alone.

The sponsored walk takes place this Saturday 27th September starting at 8am at Haytor. Friends of Sean's will be walking a choice of two distances (either 13.5 or 23 miles) from Haytor to Kingsteignton then to Shaldon - Bishopsteignton - then Kingsteignton.
