Are You Highly Intelligent? Take Our Super Scientific Quiz To Find Out
It's all based on experts' findings.
Are you a clever-clogs, or perhaps no the sharpest tool in the shed? Come on, be honest, there’s no shame in it.
If you’re not too sure either way, various studies conducted around the world could help you out, as experts have looked at correlations between overall IQ and every day behaviour.
And the results are surprising!
Before we take a look at the findings, take our quiz, which is based on their study. It should give you a rough idea of whether you qualify for the status of that coveted title, ‘highly intelligent’.
How did you do?
Here’s a quick run-through of the various academics’ scientific findings, so you can understand just why you scored the way that you did.
Smart people learn from their mistakes
According to the experts, clever people know that intelligence is not “fixed” and are always willing to learn new lessons.
And keep their cool in an argument
It’s all about being able to argue your point without upsetting the other person, says the report. In other words, it’s all about emotional intelligence.
Clever-clogs enjoy a near-the-knuckle joke
This finding is based on a survey by the University of Vienna, who asked 159 people to rate blackly comic cartoons, before measuring their cleverness.
Boffins enjoy their own company
Probably because there’s so much going on in their heads, according to Singapore Management University. In a report they wrote: “More intelligent individuals experience lower life satisfaction with more frequent socialisation with friends.”
But don’t think that they’re clever
At Cornell University, New York, in 1999, researchers David Dunning and Justin Kruger found that people of less than average intelligence often think that they are clever. D’oh!
And they’re not often found in the gym
Experts at Florida Gulf Coast University monitored clever and non-clever people for a week and found that the latter group was much more active.
They’re not big on memes either
According to the University of Waterloo, Ontario, presented people with memes conveying faux-meaningful statements (such as “attention and intention are the mechanics of Manifestation”) and found that those with lower IQ found them profound.
Finally, the first born is often the smartest
Edinburgh University reported that older children benefited from increased attention early on in life. If you scored well in our test, perhaps that’s why!
