Nick Snaith Reviews Elemis SpaPod

Heart Radio Presenter Nick Snaith gets in touch with his feminine side and interrupts his Christmas shopping to receive a facial at an Elemis SpaPod. He tells us how he found the experience.

Last week I was invited to try out the Elemis SpaPod, an oasis of calm in the middle of a packed department store, doing 30 minute men's facials amongst other services.

I'm in touch with my feminine side enough to go for it. I got most of my Christmas shopping done, had some lunch and was ready to be pampered!
You start with a consultation, they take a not very flattering photo of your face and the clever computer tells you the condition of your skin and the best treatments for you.

I was suffering from a bit of dehydration and too much exposure to the sun. Armed with the information and the plan of action we made our way into the pod.

I stripped down to my waist, wrapped up in a colourful sarong and made myself comfortable on the massage chair. I was already falling into a state of relaxation just from being in the warm, dimly lit room listening to the soothing tunes.

The chair worked out my stress areas and gave me a full body massage for the duration of my facial. I've tried these chairs before at airports and to be honest they are pretty rubbish. Not this one, it was, dare I say it better than a human!

For 30 minutes I closed my eyes and drifted into a parallel universe hardly aware of the hustle and bustle just yards away from me on the other side of the door.

It seemed like a hundred different things happening to my face from warm flannels to exfoliations to cold creams, everyone designed to pamper me to the max and spoil my skin.

I didn't want it to end but when it inevitably did I felt rejuvenated and ready to face the crowds once again.

I got dressed and looked in the mirror, wow I looked like a teenager again and my face felt silky and smooth and smelt amazing too!

I bought some moisturiser, some spf cream and exfoliator and I was on my way dreaming of my next pamper session.

I might start shopping every weekend!
