Trio Chocolate Biscuit Bars Are BACK After 13 Years!
The British people have spoken! The retro biscuits will return to the shelves in March after a Facebook campaign demanding their return.
There's nothing quite like a chocolate biscuit being discontinued to cause widespread outrage among us Brits.
And the people of Facebook have spoken – causing Trio chocolate bars to return to shops once more.
The biscuit, which was a combination of soft toffee, thick milk chocolate and biscuit, is the latest retro snack to make a comeback (after 13 years) thanks to demand on social media.
Yep, United Biscuits have been persuaded to revive the chocolate biscuit - famous for its calypso TV jingle - after pressure from fans.
Proving the power of a nostalgic Facebook community, Funny Feet ice creams were brought back by Walls in 2013, while Cadbury relaunched Wispa in 2008 because of an equally vocal social media campaign.
Sarah Heynen, marketing director of sweet biscuits for United Biscuits, said: "We are very excited to bring Trio back to market. We simply couldn’t ignore consumer calls to bring back what has been dubbed one of the most missed and popular biscuit brands.
"Insights have shown that the feeling of warmth towards this product has not faded as Trio's retro brand continues to evoke a powerful feeling of nostalgia, and we anticipate strong demand from consumers to see it on shelf in their supermarket. We’re also sure that Trio will also find a new fan base with those that didn’t try it the first time around!"
