Chocolate-covered biscuits? Sure. Chocolate-covered popcorn? No surprise. But now, McDonald’s have launched new chocolate covered French fries – and we’re not sure how we feel about it.

The fast food giant has unveiled its latest menu creation containing two items that really shouldn't go together, but weirdly do. It's like weird pregnancy cravings all over again...

Customers will get a choice of chocolate with cacao flavour and white milk chocolate to drizzle over their chips. (Hello new guilty pleasure, goodbye January diet!)

Unfortunately for us, the UK will have to wait for the 'McChoco Potato'. The new item on the McDonald’s menu will only be in Japan for the time being, with a country-wide rollout beginning next week.

In a statement, McDonald's Japan described the new choco-chips as 'a tasty twist on one of the Golden Arches' classics'.

It added that customers can enjoy the McChoco Potato as a side dish or a dessert.

"Japanese customers can now enjoy an ideal combination of McDonald’s French fries drizzled with two types of chocolate sauces," it said.

"The combination creates a wonderful salty and sweet harmonious taste."

So for those of you torn between a bowl of chips or a bar of chocolate, this has got to be the answer!
