Sugar Shocker: Are Breakfast Biscuits REALLY The Healthy Option?!
Breakfast is one of the most important meals of the day but it's time to blow the roof off the myths that 'healthy' brekkie biscuits are really all that good for you...
We all know what a healthy start to the day looks like right?
But aside from the fact that you're seriously strapped for time in the morning, we've got some more bad news for you - it may not be as easy as you first think.
We'd always thought that a we were making a pretty safe bet sticking to 'Breakfast biscuits' as a healthy and fuel-filled start to day...but now we're beginning to doubt everything we previously held dear!
Breakfast biscuits have always been billed as a positive start to the day in comparison to many of the more "obviously bad for you" options available.
We'd always grab a Belvita over a bowl of Frosties say!
But now new evidence has come to light, suggesting that these so-called healthy snacks could contain even MORE sugar than a a bowl of Coco Pops! WHAT THE?!
The survey by Action on Sugar tried a whopping 39 different products sold to consumers in high-street supermarkets and found that a horrific 46% contained more sugar than a 1 oz bowl of Kellogg's Coco Pops.
What is more, 36 of the 39 biscuits has more sugar in than a bowl of Nestle Toffee Crisp Cereal - which you'd be forgiven for thinking was somthing to be saved for treat day!
Offenders included everyone from ASDA, Morrisons, Lidl, Tesco's, Sainos, Waitress and M&S... proving nowhere is safe from the sugar devil!
And the bad news doesn't stop there! Apparently us Brits consume more than twice as much sugar as the rest of the planet.
Blimey! Time to switch to a glass of water and a couple of poached eggs!
