Ladies Are Told To STOP Wearing A Bra And Here's Why...
Sometimes, they can be uncomfortable, itchy and a right pain in the... well, chest. Now, the bra has come under fire from a French scientist who's telling us that wearing the over-the-shoulder-boulder-holder is a 'false necessity'.
Jean-Denis Rouillon a professor of sports science at Besançon University has spent 15 years studying 330 women aged 18-35, has concluded that wearing a bra does not help support the chest, reduce back pain or prevent getting droopy breasts.
He said: "Medically, physiologically, anatomically – breasts gain no benefit from being denied gravity. On the contrary, they get saggier with a bra."
So does this mean that we don't need to wear one any more? Well, his interview with France Info has caused a bit of outrage.
Deborah Orr from the Guardian argues that women don't wear bras for medical reasons but instead for "psychological, aesthetic and practical reasons.
"Bras stop our breasts from wobbling about in a Don't Forget for a Second You've Got Breasts manner, allowing us to forget them," she wrote. "Otherwise we'd be cupping them in our hands every time we broke into a trot to catch a lift."
