Stella McCartney receives honorary degree

The University of the Arts of London honors former student

Stella McCartney received her honorary degree in London's Royal Festival Hall.

Paul McCartney's daughter, who was wearing the typical graduation attire of gown and cap, gave a short speech and announced that she's funding a scholarship for students at her alma mater, Central St Martins, now part of the University of the Arts of London.

Stella graduated from the St Martins in 1995 and her graduation designs famously featured Kate Moss on the catwalk.

Designer McCartney is one of the most successful British fashion exports and her clothes are worn by many celebrities, including Kate Middleton, Madonna and Gwyneth Paltrow.
