20p coin without a date
Picture | PA
The Royal Mint accidentally produced a collectable in 2008 when a batch of the coins missing the year '2008' on them were mistakenly put into circulation.
The mistake happened after the mint decided to tweak the design by switching the date from the front of the coin to the back, but thanks to a production error, between 50,000 and 200,000 coins were put into circulation by mistake.
They're now being sold for up to £100 each.
Limited Edition Kew Gardens 50p
Collectors have been buying these limited edition coins for around £50. The coins were produced in 2011 to mark the 250th anniversary of the Royal Botanical Gardens.
Only 210,000 of these coins were made by the Royal Mint, compared to the 22.7 million featuring the Royal Arms in 2008 and 7.5 million with a Girl Guiding design in 2012.
London Olympic 50p
To celebrate London hosting the 2012 Olympic games, a series of 50p coins were produced with 29 different sporting events printed on the back.
Some of the designs were produced in higher numbers than the rest, and a full set would normally go for £35.
Some of the rarer designers featuring football, wheelchair rugby, wrestling and tennis, are worth £3 or £4 individually.
However, one of the coins recently listed for £3,000 on eBay, and is one of 600 original aquatic coins, showing water passing over a swimmer's face, before the design was changed to show a visible face of the sportsman.
European Union commemorative coin
In 1992 and 1993, the Royal Mint produced a commemorative 50p coin to celebrate the British presidency of the council of Europe.
These are worth around £20 each.
Guy Fawkes £2 coins
In 2005, a £2 coin was produced to commemorate the 400th anniversary of Guy Fawkes' gun powder plot to blow up the Houses of Parliament. On some of the coins released into circulation the inscription read "Pemember, Pemember the Fifth of November instead of "Remember, Remember".
Those coins usually sell for around £16 on eBay.

In 2012 the Mint released a £2 coin to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the birth of Charles Dickens. The reverse side features the names of the author's books. Only 20,000 coins were minted, making it a collectable coin worth up to four times its face value.
