A11: 12 Injured After Collision

A crash between a car and a minibus between Newmarket and Barton Mills on the A11 has left 12 people injured.

East of England Ambulance Service NHS Trust (EEAST) crews and Suffolk Police were called just after midnight.

Fourteen people on the minbus were assessed by ambulance medics on scene and treated where necessary. Ten passengers were walking wounded and two had non-life threatening injuries.

The most seriously injured person was taken to Addenbrooke's Hospital by land ambulance with a suspected fractured rib and collarbone injuries.

The remaining 11 were all taken to West Suffolk Hospital by ambulance.

An EEAST spokesman said: "This was clearly a difficult incident because of the large number of casualties involved but our crews worked extremely effectively to ensure patients received first class treatment and also liaised well with other emergency services.

We wish the casualties the very best for a good recovery."

Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the collision to contact the Bury St Edmunds Roads Policing Unit on 101.
